I keep talking about how I'm in a major reading slump that's being going on for about a year now. It's
really unfortunate as I love reading and getting lost in another world, however i just can't find the
motivation in me to read or a book that captures my attention at the moment. Despite all of this, I am of
course still purchasing new books. I definitely haven't purchased all the books I would like and have kept
it quite refrained for me, as apart from a few that I know I will have missed, this is all the books I've
purchased this year. I'm quite proud that this is all I've purchased, but there are still a lot I want!
The Heartstopper series is one of my favourites and I love Alice Oseman's writing. I'm planning to re-read
the whole series and loose myself in the story again, and I know I'll love it just as much as the first time I
read them. One of the only 2 books I've read this year was; The Great Gatsby graphic novel. As soon as
this arrived I sat down and read it in one sitting. I've never read the original and have only seen the movie,
so my understanding surrounding the storyline was limited. I enjoyed the graphic novel and it makes me
look forward to reading the original!
It's very rare that a book captures my attention so much that purchase it immediately and don't add it to my
wish-list, but The black kids by Christina Hammonds Reed was one of them. A coming of age novel
focusing on issues surrounding race, class and violence all through the eyes of a wealthy black teen. The
power and knowledge that this book holds without me having read it just shows how incredible it's going
to be. There is no right or wrong time for a book to come out, but with race and class still being such a
huge issue, this is a perfect chance for teens and young adults to read this.
For so long I've wanted to pick up and read; they both die in the end, by Adam Silvera but never got round
to it. After seeing it all over my TikTok I decided it was finally time. It's around two friends who are going
to die and want to have one last adventure together. Described as a beautiful, heartbreaking and life-
affirming book. I'm both looking forward to and dreading reading this book because after everything I've
heard I guarantee it will make me cry.

I love audiobooks, but I have this weird thing where I have to read the physical book alongside side it too, which doesn't help with my slump! x
