Romance films are definitely my favourites to watch. They are the definition of a feel good movie. Full
of laughter, crying and happiness, even if they are predictable most of the time. With Valentines Day
coming up, it's the perfect time to sit down and watch a good romance film. There are so many out there
that it can be hard to decide what to watch, which is why I love writing and reading posts like these.
Full of amazing suggestions, cult classics and maybe some new films for you to try out!
BRIDGET JONES' DIARY - 2001
If you haven't watched this film series then you must've been living under a rock. Everyone can relate to
Bridget Jones at some point during your life. Bridget thinks her life is doomed, being 32 and single. She
sets a New Years resolution to take control of her life and get what she wants. In classic Bridget Jones
fashion, it doesn't all go to plan and isn't smooth sailing. This is the type of film that you can rewatch over
and over again and will never get bored off.
50 FIRST DATES - 2004
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are a match made in heaven. If they are in a movie, it's impossible
for the film to be bad. Henry and Lucy meet and immediately hit it off, but the next day Lucy fails to
remember Henry. After finding out that Lucy suffers from short term memory loss, Henry does everything
he can to make her fall in love with him. You will find yourself 'oooing and awwing' throughout the whole
movie and loving every moment. This is a film I wish they made a sequel too!
SET IT UP - 2018
Working for a workaholic in New York is never going to be easy, which is why Harper and Charlie decide
to set up their bosses in the hopes that it makes their lives easier. Being a romance film it doesn't turn out
quite how they planned. I love this movie, and I think because it's set in New York you can that extra
romance and fairytale aspect, even without realising it. Definitely a feel good movie.
AFTER - 2019
If you're finding yourself wanting a bit more 'spice' in your romance films then this is for you. The perfect
amount of romance, depth, tension and sexual chemistry without being too much. Tessa and Hardin, don't
get off to the best of starts but sharing their love of classic literature brings them together, understanding
one another on a deeper level. Experiencing new things and feelings with each other. I loved seeing them
grow together, even if it doesn't go to plan. I look forward to watching the sequels of this movie!
PRETTY WOMAN - 1990
I had to include this classic romance, mainly because it's my moms favourite. Edward and Vivian meet
whilst she's out at work, and he wants to feel less alone. After spending an innocent night together,
Edward buys some more time with her and treats her to a week of luxury. A romance between a rich
man and a prostitute wasn't going to be as easy as they thought. But will they fall in love?
10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU - 1999
If I could only choose 1 film to watch for the rest of my life, this would be it. One of many films based of
the classic Shakespear novel 'The Taming of the Shrew', Bianca can't date until her older sister Kat does.
Conjuring up a plan, Kat gets set up with the 'bad boy' in the school. But will it all go according to plan, so
Bianca can date the guy she really wants and Kat doesn't get hurt? Cannot recommend this film enough.
TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE - 2018
Based on the bestselling series by Jenny Han, Lara Jean's secret love letters get sent out. With her life
being thrown into chaos and trying to avoid confronting her best friend she starts fake dating Peter, who
also receives a letter. With rules, lying and fake dates a real relationship may be on the horizon, but after a
video gets leaked and Peter doesn't react correctly that may not be the case. I love everything about this
film and cannot wait to watch the third and final film in the series.
What are your favourite romance films?
