What I hope for 2023

Every year I feel is going quicker and quicker, and now this year I'm about to be 24, a mom, going into my
third year of living alone, continuing to grow and learn from every aspect of my life. I usually like to set
goals for the year ahead and things I want to achieve, but this year I want to set hopes. Goals often come
with pressure to achieve and disappointment if they're not reached, but hopes don't. These are things I
hope for this year and want to work towards but not goals that I'll be dissapointed if don't happen. Life is
constantly changing and so our goals, hopes and priorities. At the end of 2023 I might not care about the
same things I do now and have a whole new list of hopes.

Something I always set myself every year, and have done since high school, is to read more. I often speak
about how I exceeded my goal a few years ago and read 52 books that year. Unfortunately last year I didn't
read anything and only read 6 books the year before. This year I knew I wanted to get back into it as I
have more than enough books to get through, and wanted to swap my TikTok time with reading. This year
I've gone more realistic with my goal as I'm aiming for 12 (1 book a month). I have already beat last years
goal, by reading/listening to a book already this month. With this goal I also want to start posting more on
my blog about books and the books that I've enjoyed and recommend.

REKINDLE MY LOVE FOR BLOGGING
I have been blogging since July 2014 and posted 3 times a week since. As I've got older my life has
changed and the ability come up with and write 3 new posts a week started to become harder and harder.
Last year I decided to only post twice a week, so I had time to balance my work and personal life. 2022
was an incredibly hectic and crazy year, which led to me falling out of love with blogging and only
posting a fraction of the scheduled posts I had in mind.

Despite having a baby in April this year, I do hope to post twice a week and rekindle my love
with blogging. I want to write posts that I enjoy writing and want to read, but those that others will
enjoy too. I hope to post more beauty content as well as opening the discussion of taboo topics with
the mixture of being a first time mom and experiencing parenthood for the first time.

STOP BUYING RECKLESSLY
I like to think I'm good with money, but in reality that means that when I get paid I make sure the amount
for my bills is set aside and the rest is good to do whatever with. Before finding out I was pregnant I
would buy things as and when, just because I liked the look of something or heard someone else talking
about it and wanted to give it ago myself. There is no problem with that as I had the money to do so along
with having nobody dependent on me. Now that I am expecting a baby in April, I want to start thinking
more before buying and buy less recklessly just because I can. If there is something that I have my eye on,
I want to wait and think about it for a few days/weeks before buying.

START MAKING MEMORIES WITH MY BABY
This is my main goal and the only one that truly matters. I am having a baby boy in April and cannot wait
to spend time with him, making memories, watching him grow and hit milestones. I can't put into words
how I feel about having a baby and experiencing a new chapter in my life. By the end of the year he will
be, roughly, 8 months old already having experienced and grew so much. I never thought this would be one of my goals for the year, but it's by far my favourite!

What are your goals for 2023?

  1. This is how I approached the year too, with hopes not goals! Being a baby boy mum is the best you will love it!

  4. Love this! I've seen a few people do hopes instead of goals. I think it's such a good way to go about things. I think 2023 is going to be brilliant for you. X

    1. So much more relaxed. We don't necessarily have to wait until the new year, month or week to do them, and hopes just felt more fitting this year x

  6. Rather than creating goals for the whole year, I'm breaking it down and making 3 smaller ones for each month in the hope that I might achieve a few more things lol. We're already nearly at the end of January and some of them are not going so well but let's keep trying!

Hope your hopes are going well!
