Staying calm and productive at home

There are a lot of things happening in the world right now and a huge amount of change is going on.
I've tried to keep my blog as positive as possible and not talk about the recent events, and keep this as
a place to escape from society and forget about everything. Whilst that is still going to be the case, I
wanted to do a post talking about how to remain calm and productive at home whilst the majority of
us, are now working from home, not at all and are at home all day. There are an infinite amount of
ideas and activities on how to stay busy, however I wanted to share my favourite and some tips on
remaining as calm as possible during this manic period in our lives.

Everything now is online, whether that's simple things like talking to our friends or staying up to date
with the news. It can all be done from our phone. Try to stay offline and reduce your screen time. It's
so easy to get caught up scrolling and before you know it you've spent 4 hours on Tik-Tok and the
main part of your day has gone. Put your phone in another room or put time limits on for apps.

When I have no clue what to do, my mind goes straight towards pampering myself. Grab your
favourite face mask, run a bubble bath, get a glass of wine or a cup of tea and relax. You can do this
slowly throughout the day and stick on your favourite film and paint your nails, or you can have a
simple pamper night. Whichever you choose, I will guarantee your mood with improve, even if it's
just a little! Check out my latest pamper routine for more ideas, here.

The easiest way to stay calm and distracted is to read. I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't done this
as much, as I would've liked to. Especially since I have nothing but time now. I do plan on changing
this and setting time aside for reading, instead of being on my phone. There are so many amazing
books in the world that are just waiting to be read, and I have plenty that are just sat on my shelves.
Try reading for 30 minutes or an hour, if you're enjoying the book you'll make more time for it!

This current period in time is really difficult for all of us, some more than others. However we can all
admit that we are struggling with the lack of people we can are allowed to see, or in this case; not see.
That is why communication is really important. Make sure to phone your family and text your
friends. We live in a world where you can video call people thousands of miles away on the other side
of the world. Take advantage of that and talk to those who you haven't in a long time. Remember
we're all feeling and going through the same thing right now.

If you are still working, you most likely are having to do so from home. I still have go out to work,
but I do also work from home, which I've always done, so I haven't noticed a difference. However if
you're not used to working from home, it is so important to follow a routine. Wake up at the same
time, get dressed, have similar snack and lunch breaks. It's also important to make sure you are not
working in the same location as you're living in. So don't work from your bed, switch it up. Often a
dining table or office is best but since the weather is nice, try working outside for a bit.

I am sending you all my love right now, remember we are all in this together. If you are a
key worker I just want to take this time to say thank you for everything you are doing and
providing at this time, whether it be as part of the NHS or working in retail. Thank you!

xoxo
