Why I blog so much about my mental health

Mental health is something that I've always been passionate about. Not just because I suffer from a
lot of mental health issues, but also because I don't think they are spoken truthfully about enough.
Mental health has become a bigger topic over the last few years, however there's still this stigma
around it and dishonesty. Nobody really talks about how much they can affect you or the people
around you. The impact they have on your body. What they make you want to do or say. How they
truly take over. Why is nobody talking about it?

I ask myself this question everyday. Yes people know what depression, anxiety and being suicidal are
but do you really unless you've experienced it yourself. Just because I'm laughing and smiling on the
outside, getting on with day to day life doesn't mean I'm not dying and fighting for my life inside,
against something that my brain thinks is normal.

I've always been a very open person, both on and offline, and I talk a lot about my mental health on
my blog. When I first started I didn't want to, because I was scared that people would think less of me
and think I was a nobody. I thought people would think I'm crazy because I've got something wrong
with me. But over the years I've come to realise that the majority of people have or will at some point
go through something in their life like this.

There is still a lot about me that you don't know. Maybe you never will because I don't want to write
it down and relive everything, or maybe you will know once people offline understand more too. I
blog so much about my mental health because I want the honest and truthful side of it to come out. I
don't want depression to be looked at as just being sad. I don't want being suicidal to look like you're
ungrateful and selfish for you life. I want people to know the truth behind everything.

That's why I blog so much about my mental health.
To tell the truth.

  2. I think it's so important to talk about it. Some people can look okay on the outside but on the inside feel completely different. You never know what someone is going through x
