Learning to accept yourself and love who you are

In the nearly 20 years that I've been on this planet and out of all the memories that I have, their are
only a handful of times where I've looked in the mirror and been happy with the way I look. The
generation and society that we live in today, has programmed us to think that we don't look good
enough, by showing photoshopped models everywhere we look - tv, magazines, social media.

Growing up I constantly felt like I wasn't good enough. I always though I was too 'fat', because I
didn't look the way that people around me did. I was always one of the tallest in my class throughout
primary school, and hit puberty quite early so I was ahead of others meaning it gave them a chance to
pick on me. I'm thankful that more curvy women, and 'regular' people are being shown to teach
young girls and boys that everyone looks different.

I still look in the mirror and don't like what I see, but I have my days when I feel really good in
myself. No matter what I will always struggle with my self confidence. However what I have come
to realise is that just because someone looks a certain way and you don't look the same, doesn't
mean you're not beautiful. It means that you are all beautiful, you just look different.

Whether you are a boy who enjoys wearing skirts and makeup, or a girl who doesn't feel like she
has the 'ideal' body type and dresses to hide it, it doesn't matter because you are beautiful. You
might not realise or see it now but you will because you are, both on the inside and out.

Learn to love yourself and the body you have, because it's the only one you're ever going
to get, so you might as well treat it right and love it the way you should!
