Pregnancy Q&A

This post was wrote before I gave birth, but I still wanted to post and share with you all.

With my due date a month away, I asked on my Instagram stories for any pregnancy related questions
and I was pleasantly surprised with how many responses I got. I've shared quite a bit throughout my
pregnancy, mainly to look back on in years to come but also for others to relate to and know that no 2
pregnancies are the same. I've tried to answer a range of questions covering different topics, that I think
most will be interested in knowing the answers too!

IS THE BABY HAVING YOUR LAST NAME?
No, the baby will be having their dads last name. I am quite traditional in that sense and the only way
the baby would have my last name is if he wasn't involved in any way. Since he is, I think it is only fair
for the baby to have his last name! Plus it pairs nicely with the first name we've picked.

ARE YOU GOING TO BREASTFEED?
Up until I found out I was pregnant I was adamant I was going to breastfeed. Over the course of my pregnancy this has changed. The medication I'm on can cause colic, restless nights and more if I chose to breastfeed, which although isn't a problem it's not ideal and since I can't come off my medication at the present time, bottle/formula feeding is more ideal. There are also a few selfish reasons as to why I don't want to breastfeed which I didn't know about or consider before I was pregnant. I could write a whole blog post on my decision and the battle I've had, and although I can't give a definite answer as things might change once give birth, at the moment my answer is no I will not be breastfeeding.

HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT FUTURE CHILDREN?
Yes I have. I have always wanted 2 children, but I'm in no rush to have another as I want to
cherish time with my first and enjoy being a first time mom.

WHAT BIRTH WOULD YOU LIKE?
I've tried not to think about a birth plan too much as I know things don't always go as planned and I don't want to put too much pressure on myself to have the perfect birth. Ideally I would like to have a water birth with only gas and air. The only thing that I am 100% on is that I do not want to have an epidural.

ARE YOU GOING TO GO BACK TO WORK?
At the moment I can't answer fully. I would love to go back to work but unfortunately childcare costs are ridiculously expensive and it depends on a lot other circumstances at the time when I can return.

WHAT'S BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF PREGNANCY?
I haven't had the easiest pregnancy, and it's definitely been a difficult journey. However, I think my favourite part is purchasing all the baby items, seeing the nursery come together and feeling him move.

WILL YOU BE SHOWING THE BABY ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
I think we will show the baby occasionally, but I don't want to plaster him all over social media.

WHAT OTHER NAMES WERE YOU CONSIDERING?
As soon as we found out we were pregnant we had a girls name chose, but it took us a little longer to agree on a boys name. Honestly the other name that we both liked was Zac, however it didn't feel right. The name we chose paired nicely with the middle and last name and although it's a name that you will have heard of it's not overly common.

  2. Hope you're all doing okay! These answers were so lovely to read. I like the honest about feeding as this can still be a subject which many people don't want to talk about. X

  5. I gave my second born my partners last name but didn't with my first, you definitely have to follow instinct with these things. I'm glad I did as Ru's dad isn't involved at all and I'd hate for him to be stuck with his name!

    1. Definitely agree with this! It makes sense to me that way, but I understand why it can more complicated than that to others x
