Cosy mystery books for autumn

Autumn is my favourite time of year so what better time to read a cosy mystery, than autumn?! I hate to
admit but I'm still yet to read a book this year, but autumn is the perfect time to read and get my mo-jo
back. Tucked under a blanket with a hot chocolate, wearing the comfiest pyjamas. Obviously the genre
you read, doesn't depend upon the time of year, however cosy mysteries definitely have an autumnal feel
to them, just as teen romance books are great to read throughout the summer.

Finlay Donovan, single mom and crime writer is having a hard time.  Between her ex-husband firing her
nanny and sending her 4 year old to school after a unfortunate scissor mishap, making it to lunch with her
literary agent, is a minor victory. But as she's discussing the plot of her latest crime novel the conversation
is misheard by a nearby women who believes she is a hit women planning of disposing of her 'problem
husband'. Slipping Finlay her name and a promise of a large cash sum, Finlay finds herself plotting
something bigger than just her next crime novel. This is book 1 in a trilogy.

ONE OF US IS LYING - KAREN M McMANUS
Five students go to detention but only four leave alive. Yale hopeful, Bronwyn, has never publicly
broken a rule. Sports star, Cooper, only knows what he's doing in the baseball diamond. Bad boy,
Nate, is one misstep away from a life of crime. Prom queen, Addy, is holding together the cracks of
her perfect life. And outsider, Simon, creator of the notorious gossip app at Bayview High, won't
ever talk about any of them again. Dying 24 hours before he could post their deepest secrets online.
Investigators conclude it's no accident and all of them are suspects. This is book 1 in a duology.

TRULY DEVIOUS - MAUREEN JOHNSON
Ellingham Academy is a famous private school in Vermont, for the brightest thinkers, inventors and
artists, founded by Albert Ellingham. Shortly after opening his wife and daughter were kidnapped
with the only clue being a mocking riddle listing methods of murder, signed with 'truly devious'.
True crime lover, Stevie Bell is set to begin her first year at the school and has an ambitious plan to
solve this case, that is when she gets a grip on the new school life and housemates. But soon strange
things starts happening. 'Truly Devious' makes a surprise return. The past has crawled out of it's
grave and now someone has gotten away with murder. This is book 1 in a series of 4 books.

Five years ago schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police and everyone in town
knows he did it. The case is closed. But having gown up in the same small town that was consumed
by the crime, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn't so sure. She choses this case as the topic for her final project
and start to uncover secrets that someone in the town desperately wants to stay hidden. If the real
killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pippa from the truth? This is book 1 in a trilogy.

  2. I'm the same! I'm still on my first book of the year. Ooops. I'm terrible for prioritising reading. I could do with a weeks holiday just by myself to read and relax. If I do pick up a book though it's pretty much always something like this. I love the sound of a good girls guide to murder especially.

  3. They all sound really good. I used to really enjoy Maureen Johnson's books so maybe it's time to try them again. Thanks for the suggestions.
