Why my blogging routine is a mess

I never wanted to be one of those bloggers who apologised for not sticking to the routine they created,
or having time away, but I've always been guilty of that. Since October last year my blogging routine has
been a mess. I have missed so many days of posting on my blog and Instagram and taken a step back.
This was never intentional, especially as this is emoting I love doing.

October 2021 is when I started my 9-5 job and my blog took a hit. At my previous job I could take my
laptop to work and right posts there, now I get home have dinner, a shower, relax and fall asleep before
starting again. The weekends are spent catching up on sleep or catching up on my social life. The time I
used find to blog, was suddenly gone.

Balancing work and my personal life has never been something I've excelled in. I struggle to find the
perfect middle ground and find myself getting swept up and dwelling on the small things rather getting
stuff done. My mental health oftentimes a big hit and I become very cautious of this and do what I can
to feel my best at all times.

Writing this I know I don't have to apologise for my blogging routine being a mess and not posting as
often, but I like to give an explanation and a reason for my actions. I'm not going to sit here and make
a promise that I can't keep, and say I'm going to be consistent with posting twice a week and 5 times a
week on my Instagram. Instead I'm going to promise to try my best and fall back in love with blogging
again like I used to. It's been 8 years since I first started writing and you have been through so many life
changing and memorable moments with me, and I hope to have another 8 years of memories to come.

xoxo

  1. There is no need to apologise for your blogging routine! At the end of the day, you can only do what you can! x

  2. I've recently had to change mine too. I was posting daily, then 3 times a week and now I post just a week and its much more manageable! It's important to give ourselves time to adjust when we have big life changes such as a new job.

    1. I do agree with doing what's best for you. I spent 7 years posting 3 times a week and it got too much. I try to do 2 a week now and it's a lot better x

  3. I definitely don't post as often as I used to and Instagram always ends up taking a back seat when I get busy! I think it takes the enjoyment out of it if you're stressing about it so I always just do as and when I can!

    1. Doing it when you enjoy it seems to be a theme amongst people now, which I really like x

  4. No need to apologise. I have absolutely no routine with my blog (even though it's my job) and I've found taking the pressure away actually makes me work better. It just sort of happens. Instagram on the other hand I've just left behind. Haha. I still post, but it's maybe twice a week, if that sometimes. I'm very much of the mindset that life is more important and it's okay for it to get in the way sometimes.

    1. I think it's because a lot of people are switching to Tiktok and visual content rather than literature! Just need to fall back in love with it x

  5. Lea-mai it’s so lovely to see you! You’re not the only one. I’ve been blogging for 8 years this year too, in fact next month will be my 8-year blogging anniversary! :o Over the 8 years I’ve definitely had breaks and come backs and some a lot longer than others. I feel like I’ve finally found my peace with posting schedules and quite simply… not having one! It feels so much better to post freely and out of habit, as a hobby! Please do not worry about your schedule. Blog freely and enjoy it. It all started as our hobby because we love it and we all need to prioritise keeping it what we love, especially in the online climate these days.

    So much love!
