Self love for Valentines Day

Originally this post was just going to be for those who are single and this be more of a 'Galentines'
post, but then I thought why should self love just be those for who are single? We all need to love
ourselves and practice self love, whether you are single or in a relationship. I've never been a huge
fan of Valentines Day and have never really had the opportunity to celebrate it properly, however now
that I'm single it seems like there's a lot of love in the air lately. So instead of me sharing that with
someone, I'm going to share it with myself.

Take yourself on a date. If you're happening to spend Valentines Day alone why don't you go out.
Take yourself to see a movie that you want, or get a bite to eat. A lot of people find this hard to do
anyway as it's been drilled into us that you can't do these on your own but it seems extra hard on a
day surrounded with love. A lot of people tend to go out on the night time so try taking yourself out
in the day and then spend the night time at home doing your favourite activity. Whether thats reading,
watching a film, baking or simply doing nothing at all.

Meet up with some of your friends. It doesn't have to be on Valentines Day, but surrounding yourself
with people who make you laugh and support you will make you happier than you can imagine. This
is something I'm doing tomorrow, as I'm meeting up with a friend to grab something to eat and a
drink as well. Friends are often the best kinds of love you can have and will ever need.

Spoil yourself. Buy yourself that handbag you've had on your Wishlist for months or that book you
can't stop thinking about. You don't need someone else to buy you gifts, when you can buy things for
yourself and feel a sense of achievement and self love from within. Indulge in the materialistic things
for the day. Online shopping is great, but try going out to your local shops and treating yourself.

Something I'm going to try and do is write myself a love note. This is something I had never thought
of before, but why not. Why can't I write a note with all the things I love about myself and all the
good going on in my life. I've longed my entire life for a romantic gesture or love letter from a
partner, but recently realised that I've been waiting for no reason as I could have been sending them
to myself all along. This also gives you the chance and opportunity to appreciate yourself more.

Take yourself on a walk. This is so simple yet, one that many won't do or even think about. This can
be anything from walking to the shops to treat yourself or take yourself on a date, or just simply
going on a walk with your headphones in to get out of the house and the relaxation you need.

How are you spending your Valentines Day?

xoxo
