I read 52 books in 2019 - stats, favourites and recommendations

Some or most of you may know that I became slightly obsessed with books and reading in general
last year. It started when I discovered booktube and fell in love with people such as Booksandlala
and BookswithChloe. I decided in March that I was going to start up my Goodreads account and set
myself a goal of 26 books, averaging out at 1 book every 2 weeks. I didn't want to set my goal too
high as this was the first time I was properly getting into reading, rather than just picking up a book
on holiday. I have no idea how I went so long without reading a lot, and definitely won't be looking
back. As I'm writing this I've already read 2 books and have started my third. Hitting that goal!

I completed the challenge of reading 26 books on July 22nd and I obviously wasn't going to stop
there. Since I managed to complete my goal in 4/5 months, and had 5/6 months left I decided my
next goal was to double it and attempt to read 52 books. A lot of people don't like setting a high
number or any number as a goal, as it feels like too much pressure to hit it and it can often put a
damper on your reading as it starts to become a need rather than reading for fun. I like to set myself
goals because it gives me something to work towards and hit. Since I managed to double my goal
last year, I've decided to set 2020's reading goal at 52 books. However I do have a secret number in
my head for the amount of books I want to read, but because it is so high I don't want to share it and
feel disappointed if I didn't reach it or pressured to read by other people. Reading is something I do
because I love it and it gives me a chance to escape from todays society.

  5. I find reading very hard with balancing a full time job which is very demanding, a relationship and then life outside of all of that. I did do well last year, I think I did 12 books which was a vast improvement to previous years. This year I have set a target of 20.
