The last few books I've read

Reading has become my go to. I've always loved the idea of diving into a book and being swept of into another dimension and living in a fantasy. I've read so many books this year, some that I love and some not so much. I've fell in love with the Goodreads app and am constantly updating my reads and checking to see what other people are reading. This year I've done a lot of posts about books and reading in general, and love hearing your feedback. Sharing my last 5 books gives me the motivation to read more and beat my ultimate goal of 52 books, all whilst hoping to give you all inspiration and recommendations on what you should read next.

For so long this was on my TBR. I read this last month as part of the Read-O-Rama readathon and was shocked at how much I didn't really like this. I marked it down at a 3 star read but it was more 2.5 stars. I found the concept of a phone that can you talk to your now husband, 15 years ago on really confusing, and it wasn't explained until half way through the book what was happening. I found their relationship quite toxic, as they never resolved any arguments or conflicts and just
ignored them. The ending also just stopped rather than wrapping up the entire storyline. I loved the overall idea of this and the possibilities that it could hold, but was overall very disappointed.

For another Read-O-Rama readathon challenge I chose to read another Jenny Han book. Since I loved the To All The Boys I've Loved Before series, I had high expectations for this book. At first
it seemed like the book could be very superficial and shallow, purely based upon the title. I know we should never judge a book by it's cover, and this is the perfect example of that. I love the relationship between Conrad and Jeremiah and between Belly and Steven, but overall how they all love and protect one another. Something about Conrad and Belly's relationship is so down to earth and
genuine and I can't wait to see where they end up. Truly the perfect summer read.

I get so many book recommendations from Booktube and after hearing bookswithchloe talk about how much she loved Heartstopper vol 1 and 2 I decided to give them a try. I'm not usually the biggest fan of graphic novels as, I love to be caught up in a long descriptive book and graphic novels don't have that element. I was shocked at how much this book captured me and made me fall in love with the chemistry of the characters and love between Charlie and Nick. I enjoyed reading their story and seeing them evolve as individuals but also a couple. If you want a short read that will capture your heart then I definitely recommend reading this. I can't wait for vol 3 to come out next year.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo - 5✩✩✩✩✩
I'm a huge lover of poetry so when I saw the concept and idea of slam poetry in the form of a novel extremely interesting. At first I found the book intimidating and confusing but once I started reading part 2 I was hooked. There are so many important storylines throughout the book, from sexuality, family, sex and religion. I loved learning about different cultures and seeing how people are raised. The strength and courage that Xo has is so remarkable and I loved seeing how her and her family worked through things together and as a unit. 100% recommend everyone reading this book.
