25 reasons you should read more

We live in a generation and society where it's more common to sit across the table from someone with
your phone in your face than it is to go to a library. We don't realise how important reading is an how
much is can improve our mental health and help us to become more open minded and creative
people. As Dr Seuss said "The more that you read, the more that you will know. The more that you
learn, the more places you'll go." Put down your phone or tablet, get off your laptop and pick up a
book. A book will leave 1000 impressions and it'll never run out of battery.

Since not enough people read I wanted to compile a list of 25 reasons we all should read more. I
could have listed another 100 reasons why, but it's important to start somewhere even if it's small.

A chance to escape reality
Makes you dream bigger
Expands your vocabulary
Time to unwind and relax
Become more openminded

Challenges you
Increase your knowledge
Fresh ideas and inspiration
Improves your attention span
Relieves stress and anxiety

A new skill/hobby
Millions of options to choose from
Spending less time on electronics
Chance to connect with other people
Improves your communication skills

Experience a new culture
Explore a new world
Become more imaginative
A chance to wonder
Keeps you occupied

More emotions
Tests your memory skills
Be in control of something
Boost your creativity
...because it's fun

  2. Reading is one of life's greatest joys I think, I love it, even though perhaps I am more busy these days than I used to be so therefore have less time for it. That being said, when I find a book that I am absorbed into straight away I can easily blitz it. I agree with the comments above, reading does make you calmer, it is a nice thing to do before bed as it relaxes you.

    1. I couldn't agree more. I love setting goals and challenges for myself for each month to get inspired and see how far I can push myself. Even though it's not for everyone, it definitely makes reading more fun x

    1. I definitely love the summer reads but I'd be lying if I said I can't wait to snuggle in a blanket with a hot drink and a autumnal book x

  4. I read the first book I've picked up in years recently and it was so nice to unwind, I don't really have any books so I might join the library or order some! x
