Christmas cookies - Blogmas day 22

One of the main things I think about when it's Christmas is baking. I'm not quite sure why or where it has come from, but I love to find new recipes and bake during the holiday season. I had a few ideas in mind, but decided to combine 2 recipes that I found online together and create my own. I've took the classic chocolate chip cookie recipe and gave it a twist, by adding Christmas classics! I like to call these the ultimate Father Christmas cookies, as they just scream Christmas!

INGREDIENTS
1 egg
225g caster sugar
300g plain flour
200g melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
100g chocolate chips
100g smashed candy canes
50g mini smarties

STEP 1
Pre-heat the oven to 160℃ and line a baking tray with grease proof paper.

STEP 2
Put the candy canes into a sandwich bag and use a rolling pin to crush them
into small tiny pieces.

STEP 3
Add the sugar and melted butter together.

STEP 4
Add the flour, baking powder, vanilla extract and salt together.

STEP 5
Combine the wet and dry ingredients together.

STEP 6
Mix together until a dough consistency.

STEP 7
Then add in the egg.

STEP 8
Add the chocolate chips, candy canes and mini smarties into the mixture.

STEP 9
Place on a baking tray, about 3-5cm away from each other.

STEP 10
Bake in the oven for 10-20 minutes until they are slightly golden.
