My experience with lip filler

For as long as I can remember I have wanted lip fillers, even before they became 'trendy'. Over the last
few years people have spoke openly about getting lip fillers, which I believe stemmed from Kylie Jenner
and other celebrities being so open about their experiences. I've always been insecure about my lips
because they were quite small, lacked pigment and not as plump as I would've liked. The reason it took
me so long to get them done was mainly down to finding someone I could trust enough to do so. I've heard
so many horrors stories about people who have lip filler that I knew I couldn't just go to the first place I
found. After a lot of research and personal recommendations I found exactly what I was looking for.

I decided to give Devon a message at Ideal Aesthetics and after talking to her about what I wanted doing,
the process and cost I decided to book in with her at 1 of the 2 salons she works at. What especially stood
out to me about Devon is the amount of care and pride she takes in her clients and the advice that she
gives them, rather than others who are focused on the money side and don't care about their clients. This
gave me reassurance that she knew about different aspects, that others don't, rather than just injecting you
with filler and sending you on your way.

When I arrived, Devon was extremely friendly and didn't make me feel uncomfortable or nervous at all.
She asked me about my day, about work and really took an interest in what I had to say. She applied a
layer of numbing cream over my lips and started talking about what the next step was, what she was going
to do,  as well as showing me the needle she was going to be using to do the treatment (she asked if I
wanted to see, which I did). It took about 5-10 minutes for the numbing cream to work and she got started.

Devon recommend going for 1ml of filler, as this was my first time and she didn't want to overcrowd my
lips. She started on the top first and went at a steady pace whilst making sure I was comfortable and
feeling ok, every time she did a new injection. After the top lip was complete, she applied a little bit more
numbing cream to the bottom, waited a couple of minutes and began on the bottom lip. I wasn't in pain at
any part of the treatment, and could only feel a sharp scratch occasionally and a little bit of tightness when
the needle was injecting the filler itself. I would rate this a 4/10 for pain, as it was slightly uncomfortable
at times, but bearable and was her quickly. The whole experience took a total of around 45 minutes (max).

These are my lips immediately after getting lip filler

These are my lips, 1 month later, fully healed

I did have some initial bruising which lasted about a week, and some swelling which lasted a couple of
days. I made sure to follow the aftercare plan that was provided as well as keeping them nourished and
hydrated with vaseline. It is just as important to follow and stick to the aftercare to make sure that you
don't get any infections and everything heals the correct way.

I'm not going to mention the cost of this treatment as I know each beautician/technician charges
differently, based upon a variety of different factors. I am more than happy with the amount I paid for this
treatment as I got everything that I was looking for, from the treatment itself to finding someone I can trust
enough to do it for me. I did get another treatment on the same day, which I might talk about in a separate
blog post and I will be booking in with Devon again after Christmas for a top up!

I do want to stress that any form of cosmetic work shouldn't be taken lightly and especially shouldn't be
done because of peer pressure or social standards. There is nothing wrong with having cosmetic work
done, however it should only be done for you because it's something you want. I have wanted this done
for over 5 years. Make sure you think about it thoroughly as well as do your research in finding the right
technician for you. If you are Staffordshire based or willing to travel then I cannot recommend Devon
enough and highly recommend/suggest dropping her a message and getting booked in with her! I cannot
thank her enough for my doing my treatments, the results and how incredible she was herself.

    1. I'm not good with needles, despite having loads of tattoos. However, it wasn't as painful as I thought and it gave me such a confidence boost x
