Books to read this autumn

I've been in the autumn spirit since the start of September and every time this season rolls around I
immediately want to spend it's entirety in pjs, under a blanket with a book and hot chocolate. Since I am a
huge book lover and I often share my TBR (to be read) with you, I thought it was time that I share some
autumn book recommendations to help you all get in the mood. There is no right or wrong type of books
to read but these all have an autumn or mystery element to them, making them perfect to curl up and read!

PUMPKIN HEADS - RAINBOW ROWELL
Deja and Josiah are seasonal besties, working together every autumn through high school at the pumpkin
patch. Saying goodbye every Halloween and reuniting every September, but this year is different. They're
both seniors and this is their last season at the pumpkin patch. Their last shift together and their last
goodbye. Josiah is ready to spend the night feeling down in the dumps but Deja is going to let him and
decides to go out in a bang; by seeing all the sights, tasting the snacks and finding out if Josiah can talk
to the girl he's been lusting over for 3 years.

TRULY DEVIOUS - MAUREEN JOHNSON
Ellingham Academy is a famous private school in Vermont, for the brightest thinkers, inventors and
artists, founded by Albert Ellingham. Shortly after it opened his wife and daughter were kidnapped with
the only clue being a mocking riddle listing methods of murder, signed with 'truly devious'. True crime
lover, Stevie Bell is set to begin her first year at the school and has an ambitious plan to solve this case,
that is when she gets a grip on the new school life and housemates. But soon something strange starts
happening. 'Truly Devious' makes a surprise return. The past has crawled out of it's grave and now
someone has gotten away with murder. This is book 1 in a series of 4 books.

Five years ago schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police and everyone in town knows
he did it. The case is closed. But having gown up in the same small town that was consumed by the crime,
Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn't so sure. She choses this case as the topic for her final project and start to uncover
secrets that someone in the town desperately wants to stay hidden. If the real killer is still out there, how
far will they go to keep Pippa from the truth? This is book 1 in a trilogy.

THESE WITCHES DON'T BURN - ISABEL STERLING
Hannah is a witch, but not the kind you think. She's the real deal, an elemental, with the power to control,
fire, wind, earth and air. Even though she lives in Salem, Massachusetts her magic is a secret that only she
can know. If she's ever caught using it front of a reg (non-witch) she could loose it. For good. So Hannah
spends most of her time avoiding her ex girlfriend, and fellow elemental witch, Veronica, having out with
her best friend and working at the Fly By Night Cauldron selling candles and crystals to tourists. Dealing
with her ex is the least of her concerns when a terrifying blood ritual interrupts the end of school bonfire
and leaves evidence of dark magic all over Salem. She's sure it's the work of a deadly blood witch, but her
coven isn't so sure. They make her team up with the last person she wants to spend time with, Veronica.
Whilst attempting to smoke out the blood witch, Hannah meets Megan, a cute new ballerina in town. But
trying to date during a supernatural crisis is easier said than done and she has to test the limits of her
power to save the coven and get the girl, especially when the attacks on Salem's witches are getting
deadlier by the day.  This is book 1 in duology.

THE BABYSITTERS COVEN - KATE WILLIAMS
Seventeen year old Esme Pearl has a babysitters club. She knows it's lame but what else is she supposed
to do? Get a job? Gross. Besides she's good at it, lately needs all the cash she can get. Enter Cassandra
Heaven, Instagram model hot who dresses like she found her clothes in the dumpster with a rebellious
streak as gnarly as the cafeteria's cooking. So why is she willing to do anything and even take on a potty
training 2 year old to join Esme's babysitters club? The answer lies in a note that Cassandra's mother left
her; "Find the babysitters. Love, mom." Turns out they both have more in common than they think and
they're about to discover what being a babysitter really means; a heroic lineage of superpowers, magic
rituals and saving the innocent from evil all before the parents get home. This is book 1 in a trilogy.

GONE GIRL - GILLIAN FLYNN
Who are you and what have we done to each other? These are the questions Nick Dunne finds himself
asking the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary, when his wife Amy suddenly disappears. The police
suspect Nick and Amy's friends reveal that she was afraid of him and kept secrets, but he swears this isn't
true. A police examination of his computer shows some strange searches, but he says they weren't made
by him. And then there are the persistent calls on his mobile. So what really did happen to Nick's wife?

ONE OF US IS LYING - KAREN M McMANUS
Five students go to detention but only four leave alive. Yale hopeful, Bronwyn, has never publicly broken
a rule. Sports star, Cooper, only knows what he's doing in the baseball diamond. Bad boy, Nate, is one
misstep away from a life of crime. Prom queen, Addy, is holding together the cracks of her perfect life.
And outsider, Simon, creator of the notorious gossip app at Bayview High, won't ever talk about any of
them again. He dies 24 hours before he could post their deepest secrets online. Investigators conclude it's
no accident and all of them are suspects. This is book 1 in a duology.

What are you most looking forward to reading this autumn?
