July read-a-thon (The Reading Rush)

If you're a book lover like me or even just enjoying watching booktube videos, then you might be
familiar with what a read-a-thon is. I wouldn't usually do a blog post like this but anytime I post
about books I get a really strong response, and since read-a-thons still aren't that well known to
everyone I wanted to share it with you all.

The reading rush (previously known as book-tube-a-thon) is a week long read-a-thon that takes
place from July 22nd to July 28th. This has 7 reading challenges throughout the week as well as
challenges posted on their Youtube and Instagram page. When you enter the challenges you get
the chance to enter their giveaways which are international (woo!).

This year they have a website in which you can keep up to date with the challenges, read
forums and news updates. The best part about this is that you can set up a profile and track
you reading and page count each day, and have the chance to earn badges.

Every read-a-thon they also host sprints, which is a period of time where you do nothing but
read. They also have extra challenges on their twitter page for you to take part in.

READING CHALLENGES
1 - Read a book with purple on the cover
2 - Read a book in the same spot the entire time
3 - Read a book that you meant to last year
4 - Read an authors first book
5 - Read a book with a non-human main character
6 - Pick a book with 5 or more words in the title
7 - Read and watch a book to movie adaptation

MY READING RUSH TBR
1 - Single girl seeking revenge (Tracy Bloom)
2 - Our numbered days (Neil Hillborn)
3 - Landline (Rainbow Rowell)
4 - Looking for Alaska (John Green)
5 - Twilight (Stephenie Meyer)
6 - Paris for one and other stories (JoJo Moyes)
7 - Twilight (Stephanie Meyer)

For each challenge you choose a book on your bookshelf that corresponds alongside it. You can have
separate books for each or 1 book that hits multiple challenges. I chose to add 6 books to my TBR (to
be read) shelf, as my largest book, Twilight, is 500 pages and can hit both challenge number 5 and 7.

Ariel and Raeleen started this up as a chance to read as much as you can in that time, all whilst
having fun and taking part in a variety of different challenges and activities to express yourself.
However it isn't supposed to be a stressful time by setting yourself unrealistic goals.

Are you going to take part in The Reading Rush?

xoxo
Lea-Mai

*UPDATE* since completing The Reading Rush my TBR changed and I read
a different set of books. Check out my Goodreads to see what I read instead.

  3. Such a good challenge. I have been so terrible at reading lately. I remember going through 5 books a week when I was younger and now I rarely get the time to x

    1. It really makes a difference! I have a small aim each month to reach, and get feel a sense of accomplishment if I hit a higher number x
