Positive mental health habits

Mental health continues to grow more important everyday and whatever I can do to spread awareness about and have positive mental health days I will. Unfortunately at the moment I am having more bad days than good, however I'm trying to push myself harder to focus on the little things and positive habits.

PUT YOURSELF FIRST
Putting yourself first is a lot easier said than done. Majority of the time we are focused on making others happy and forgetting about ourselves in the process. Whether you take 3 hours or 30 minutes a day, you need time to yourself. I like to do this through self care such as a pamper session, bubble bath and reading. A distraction from reality to help to unwind and destress overall working to improve your mental health.

TAKING A BREAK
One of the most important things to do, is to take a break. Nobody knows yourself and your body
better than you do, and you know when it's time to take a step back when it's telling you so. Taking a
step back and putting yourself first doesn't mean you failed, it means your'e human. Set a routine and boundaries to make sure you don't exceed your limits and push yourself to breaking point. This also ties into making sure you have a good sleep routine so you can be your best self and focus!

MAKING PLANS
Its so easy to get caught up in the moment. Whether that be doing absolutely nothing or trying to do everything. Making plans doesn't have to mean spending a bunch of money. Being around others and making memories is more important. Whether it be going on a walk, grabbing a coffee, going to the library with a friend or a night at home with a takeaway, it's really positive for your mental health and wellbeing to have something to look forward too, no matter how big or small.

How do you promote positive mental health?

  1. Yes to these positive mental health habits! Putting yourself first should always be a priority, especially when you're feeling like you need that bit of me time x

  2. Love these mental health habits! I've been struggling with my mental health a bit recently too and I definitely need to put myself first and also give myself a break more often when my MH needs it. I've also realised that there are some areas in my life that I want to change/improve on which I know will help my mental health loads in the long run too x

    1. Thank you! Sending you all my love. My advice is to start small. The small things can seem so big and daunting, but starting there will have a snowball affect for the bigger things in life x

  3. I've really learnt to put myself first over the past year or so and prioritise my own wellbeing rather than burning out just to please everyone else!

  4. Breaks are a must and something I need to do more! I just need to put my phone down and enjoy things without worrying about anything else or my emails.

    1. I'm so guilty of spending time on my phone when I'm trying to relax, but before you know it you're doing work x

  5. Yes to all of these! These are all things that I'd advise friends, however when it comes to myself I find it really difficult. Definitely need to work on these for myself. X

    1. I think everyone is guilty of this, even if we don't like to admit it. I try to remind myself that I won't like or get on with everyone I meet and it works for others too. I'm not going to be liked by everyone and that's ok x
